IPL Cricket 2012: Delhi on top after beating Deccan -- Latest Points Table (Apr 20)

NEW DELHI, India (Fri, Apr 20) – Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the defending IPL champion, and Delhi Daredevils (DD) won their matches yesterday against Pune Warriors India (PWI) and Deccan Chargers (DC) respectively.

In the first match of the day 16 of ongoing IPL 2012; win-less Deccan lost yet another game, actually fourth in a row, by 5 wickets to Delhi. The focal point of the Delhi Daredevils’ batting was Kevin Pietersen (103 off 64) who smashed a brilliant unbeaten century, second of this season after Ajinkya Rahane. KP was fortunate enough to survive three times during his innings when he was dropped on 6 by Chipli (a sitter), on 68 by Duminy (misjudged) and on 94 by Sangakkara (tough chance). Pietersen was named man of the match for his match winning batting display.

In the second match of the day, Chennai register their third victory in this IPL season beating Pune in a nail-biting finish by 13 runs. Faf du Plessis and S Badrinath scored half centuries while Nuwan Kulasekara and Dwayne Bravo grabbed 2 wickets each to lead their team to much needed victory. Kulasekara was named as Man of the Match for his bowling effort of 2/10.

Delhi Daredevils are now leading the points table with 8 points winning 4 games out of total 5 played; followed by Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Pune Warriors respectively. Deccan Chargers are on the bottom most with yet to register a win in this season.
