A man looks at what is believed to be fossilised dinosaur eggs at a site in Russia's volatile Chechnya region

Construction workers in Chechnya have unearthed a prehistoric treasure trove – fossilized remains of 40 giant dinosaur eggs. They measure from 25-cm to one meter!! This has been reported in the Skynews of 18th April 2012.

The discovery was made when geologists were engaged in blasting the hillside of the Caucasus Mountains so that a road could be built in the region bordering Georgia.

Initial count of the eggs is around 40 but there could be many more and the authorities are waiting for a paleontologist to study the fossils to determine which species of dinosaurs had laid them.

However, Valentina Nazarova a scientist of the paleontology department of Moscow State University is doubtful about the claims. In her opinion, there is no evidence to suggest that dinosaurs had ever inhabited the Caucasus

Steven Spielberg’s ‘Jurassic Park’ had fuelled the curiosity of man to know more and more about the dinosaurs that roamed the world millions of years ago and the finding of these giant size eggs has, once again, aroused interest in dinosaurs.
