Nepal went into their Tongue Penetration Festival on April 14,2012.

The festival is such a rare one as your tongue will be pierced with an iron spike during the celebration. Once a volunteer from the family took his tongue to be pierced they will carried a bamboo rack with a flaming torch and walks around the town. Those actions made it to the belief among villagers that they it will brings good fortune unto them.

In the photos a villager from the Shrestha family named Jujubhai Bans Shrestha voluntarily pierced his tongue with an iron spike during the festival.
