2012 Pulitzer Prize Winners Announced

The Huffington Post, just won its first Pulitzer prize on Monday — becoming the first online-only daily news website

The Pulitzer Committee awarded the prize in the category of national reporting to David Wood for “Beyond the Battlefield,” a 10-part series about the struggles severely wounded veterans face upon returning home.

The Huffington Post, which AOl CEO Tim Armstrong purchased last year for $315 millionknew he was getting a big infusion of web traffic and social media savvy.

“We are delighted and deeply honored by the award, which recognizes both David’s exemplary piece of purposeful journalism and HuffPost’s commitment to original reporting that affects both the national conversation and the lives of real people,” said Arianna Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of Huffington Post Media Group.
