New Orleans Louisiana. National Basketball Association (NBA) Commissioner David Stern announced on Monday the city of New Orleans will host the 2014 NBA All Star Game.
New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson has agreed to buy the New Orleans Hornets and sign a lease extension of the New Orleans Arena.
Benson was with Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal and Stern. Stern said New Orleans would be rewarded with an All Star Game as soon as the Hornets found an owner and a lease agreement to keep the team in the city would be completed.
The reason 2014 was selected was because the All Star game would face a conflict with the Mardi Gras celebrations in 2015 and 1016.
