It was a strange incident of a swan being responsible for the death of a kayaker in Des Plaines, Illinois as reported in Foxnews.com of 16th of April 2012.

37-year old Anthony Hensley had to keep geese away from a condominium complex near Des Plaines – that was his job and he used a kayak to move in the waters of the pond to ensure that geese do not stray into the area.

A swan was also in the vicinity – it also was on a similar mission!!

Unfortunately, Anthony went too close to the swan and it attacked him. He lost his balance and fell into the water and as he tried to get up, the swan repeated the attack.

Poor Anthony drowned and witnesses called in the rescue team – but the rescuers could locate him in the pond after nearly 45 minutes.

By the time he was shifted to the Lutheran General hospital, he had expired.

It is being treated as an accidental death.
