The sudden siege of the Afghan Parliament while it was in session and attacks on foreign embassies apart from NATO outposts in Kabul by Taliban militants has finally ended with the elimination of the last of the 32 militants.

This information has been disclosed by The Pioneer of 16th April 2012.

The embassies of the US, Britain, Germany and Japan were the targets and it was the first major attack on the city of Kabul by the Taliban in the past six months.

As they had done in the past, the militants hole up in half finished buildings in the vicinity of the targets and use it to start the attacks by using rockets and other explosive devices.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for these attacks and, through a text message sent by a spokesman of the Taliban to reporters has cautioned that these attacks were the beginning of the ‘spring offensive’.

The official figures of the dead in the siege in multiple locations are 32 militants and one police officer while more than 30 have been injured.
