Beauty Contests Degrades Women

Beauty contests are very popular in many parts of the world, internationally and locally. There are beauty contests for various themes or categories of age, gender and sexuality.

Beauty in its various forms, including a woman's beauty is being acknowledged right back from Plato's times, though the ways of expressing and appreciating beauty have changed through time. A beauty pageant is one of the shows that gives the illusion of your talents. Beauty contests are not only about mere aesthetics but also Beauty with Brains and Talent. This is some way which will definitely give them some confidence and advantage to reach the higher podium in their respective careers and the fact that it will gain them visibility for a chance to choose in film industry or modeling as their career path if they want to rather than being involved into some

"A Beauty should be judged for the good works not for the beautiful thighs and backless blouses."

Some women think that aside from being degraded before that forces them to place value in their looks. Whereas before, they think that the society was more blatant about devaluing people based on their appearances which is considered more in trying to promote their qualities by listing their achievements and asking them "intelligent" questions. Beauty contest is neither effective nor degrading womanhood rather than helping them to groom and bloom their talents. Every woman has a unique talent and beauty contest is the great scaffold to prove who she is and what she can do.

Here’s some Pros & Cons in the Beauty Contest world:

--Promoting an ideal female beauty can realistically aspire and adds the pressure on women to conform to it which could harm women by encouraging them to lose weight, eating disorders, cosmetic surgery or simply by making them feel inadequate and ugly.

--Judge on their physical appearance rather than on any other qualities they may possess. Intelligence is not seen as part of ideal femininity and therefore not as things to which women should aspire.

--People enjoy beauty contest and many women appreciate it. People enjoy watching it to witness the crown. The beauty of a fit, healthy female being is a form from which we can all take inspiration and entertainment along with other forms of art.

--Every competition of every kind, carry a certain quality values over others. There's nothing wrong with judging people primarily on their physical appearances where fitness and strength are major determinations of success. Everybody is entitled to say something.

“Beauty is in the deeds and in the heart not in these contests that can only be judged skin deep.”

On the other hand, some women do it on their own will, some even dream of becoming a beauty pageant queen and some people think it as a stepping stone to a way to gather a scholarship money for example. Beauty queen is a kind of stage which gives the opportunity to women to explore their talent and direction. By being a participant in such contests they represent their country and prove that they also have beauty and brains. Beauty contests can't be won by just mere exposure, there's also got to be some other aspects. Women should be raised by showing their presence in all fields, expressing their attitudes freely and so on. You cannot judge a woman by the way she dresses and by the way she answers certain questions in front of everyone. It is how she carries herself each and everyday to everyone with or without the superficial lure of glamour.
