The Livorno team suffered a great loss as one of their star players passed away on Saturday after suffering cardiac arrest. Piermario Morosini was a midfielder with Livorno. He collapsed on the pitch during a Series B match at Pescara.
Even though Piermario Morosini tried to get back after his fall, he could not do that and was rushed to the hospital so that he could be saved. However, that could not happen and he died before reaching the hospital.
Piermario Morosini was 25-year-old at the time of his death. The cause of his death has been identified as cardiac arrest. Morosini was taken to the Santo Spirito hospital, where a cardiologist named Edoado De Blasio confirmed his death, mentioning that the player was already dead when he was brought to the hospital; therefore, nothing could have been done to save him.
According to some reports, the ambulance reached the stadium with a slight delay because there was a traffic police car which was parked outside and which was blocking the way of the ambulance. The car of that parked car had to be broken so that it could be moved aside.
Piermario Morosini fell in the field in the 31st minute of the game and tried his best to get back up, but he could not. Then immediately medical assistance was provided to the player on the pitch and a defibrillator was used to resuscitate him. By the time he was put on the stretcher and taken off the pitch, he was unconscious.
Piermario Morosini was on loan from the Udinese, but sadly he could never be returned. Due to the tragic death of this player, all Italian matches scheduled to take place this weekend have been called off.
