Somali president meets with Ethiopian premier in Addis-Ababa

Ethiopia invaded Somalia in 2006 with US backing

Addis-Ababa: President of Somali Transitional Federal Government, Sharif Sh. Ahmed and Ethiopian Prime Minister, Males Zanawi had especial meeting in the Ethiopian capital, Addis-Ababa last night after high level delegates from Somali government headed by Somali president reached there yesterday, reports said.

Both leaders of Somali and Ethiopian discussed the security and the ties between the two neighbouring countries and they promised to strengthen the relationships of the two nations.

Somali president, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Ethiopian premier, Males Zanawi also talked about the latest development and achievements reached from the war against Al-qaeda linked group of Al-shabab in the south and central Somalia by national forces backed Ethiopian soldiers, state media reported.

The Ethiopian Prime Minister, Males Zanawi has warmly welcomed the victory over the battle and promised that his government would redouble its support to Somalia.

The Ethiopian soldiers are in Bay, Bakool and Hiiraan regions in the south and central Somalia pushing Al-Shabab forces back but they always face heavy resistance from them at those fronts.
