A New Hampshire man allegedly killed a police chief, wounding four other officers in a hail of gunfire and shot his girlfriend to death, then himself, myFOXboston.com reports.
This was confirmed Saturday by the chief medical examiner in Greenland, NH. The report said it appears Cullen Mutrie shot his 26-year-old girlfriend Brittany Tibbetts to death and then turned his gun on himself Thursday.
Before the incident, Mutrie purportedly opened fire on officers who had come to his home with a search warrant in what was thought to be a drug bust. The 48-year-old town police chief Michael Maloney, was killed in the raid and four other officers were wounded. On Friday morning officials say they entered the home after a nail-biting overnight face-off and found the bodies of Tibbetts and Mutrie.
Maloney, a 26-year-veteran of the police force and a 12-year chief, was about to retire when he was killed. He was remembered as a strong and comforting company in the town having a population of 3,500, who had witnessed doing the whole lot from working traffic details to ensuring peace on concerts.
