Hailstones the size of golf-balls kill 3 and injure another 25 in China

Sudden storms accompanied by hails has wrecked havoc in the rural parts of Jiangxi province of China – it has left 3 dead and more than 25 injured when they were struck by super large size hails as reported in Skynews dated 12th April 2012.

The hails were nearly 3.5-cm in diameter and weighed around 18gm on an average – more or less like golf-balls.

The freak storm has affected 170,000 residents of Jiangxi and has destroyed over 900 houses apart from 2700 hectares of crops.

More than 700 persons had to be hurriedly evacuated from the area

In the southwestern province of Guizhou, 47 villages in Taijiang County have been affected – 25 persons have been severely injured in the hailstorm.

The power supply is in disarray and communication is also badly affected.
