Jessica Vega, a US woman of Virginia has been charged with trying to cheat the public and playing on their sympathies to get a dream wedding. It seems she pretended to have been struck with a terminal illness like cancer and had only a few days to live. The news has appeared in Skynews of 11th April 2012.
It was in 2010 – Jessica wanted to get a dream wedding with the man O’Connell who had fathered her then one-year old daughter.
She let it be known that she was suffering from cancer. She even showed a prescription by a doctor that she was suffering from leukemia and had only a few days of life left.
The news spread by word of mouth, and she was flooded with the goodies. The Nu-Cavu restaurant in New York agreed to hold the bridal reception and waived off the cost of $1000 for wines and appetizers.
However, her husband did not believe her story and Jessica is now facing prosecution. If convicted of fraud or grand larceny, she would have to go to prison.
