Skooter reporting 04/10/12
Two of the men who helped make “60 Minutes” the most distinguishing news show on television have died just within five months of each other – first it was, the crabby commentator died last November, and in late Saturday night, it was Mike Wallace, the hard-charging interviewer who regularly led “60 Minutes” and gave it journalistic heaviness with a showman’s panache.
Rooney reached the age of 92, while Wallace sidelined him by a year, at the age of 93, though he spent the last stage of his life in the New Canaan, Conn., care facility where he died
Wallace is survived by his fourth wife, his son, a stepdaughter, Pauline Dora and stepsons Eames and Angus Yates.
"60 Minutes" plans an extended tribute to Wallace next Sunday
