Nicolas Sarkozy, the President of France has banned cheese from Elysee Palace, the official residence of the President of France.

This was in addition to his going in for more nutritious and balanced diet which included less of red meat and more of poultry products.

He has already removed red wine from his menu.

These have been revealed by none other than Bernard Vaussion, the chef of Elysée Palace who has had the opportunity of cooking for five French Head of State – Sarkozy is his fifth.

Cheese has been intricately woven into the cultural fabric of France which had made Charles de Gaulle comment on the 246 different varieties of cheese in his country. Hence, Sarkozy’s decision to do away with cheese has got people talking in whispers.

It seems his wife supermodel Carla Bruni is behind this change in Nicolas – of course, Cottage cheese has still not been axed.

With elections on the horizon hardly three weeks away, he wants to remain as fit as a fiddle to continue for another term.

These bits and pieces of information on the changed eating habits of French President Nicolas Sarkozy have been reported in the The Telegraph of 5th April 2012 - for more details, click here.
