A woman plane passenger who was said to be travelling alone suddenly went into labor and gave birth to her son on the air, Wednesday.
Other passengers inside the plane united to help the woman deliver her baby, Fox 13 News reported.
Susan Carnes, a flight attendant for Delta, had asked help calling for a doctor on board, when she saw Katherine Oyedoh was moaning.
Luckily, a certain Dr. Patrick Ojukwu, an OB/GYN from Stockbridge, Ga. was on board. Two other passengers who had medical training also monitored Oyedoh’s blood pressure.
And when it was time to tie the baby’s umbilical cord, a passenger had volunteered to give his shoelace, which the flight attendant had soaked together with a pair of scissors in a cup of voda to sterilize them.
After the delivery, everyone in the plane broke into applause and laughter when Carnes raised the baby and said “it’s a boy,” report says.
That was a relief!
Oyedoh delivered safely her baby boy and named him Ebosalume.
The plane which was said to be flying from Africa to Atlanta had diverted to Dakar, Senegal where mom and baby were taken to hospital and fly back to California on Thursday as the baby’s father is waiting.
