Senegal president has named technocrat as PM

Senegal's President Abdoulaye Wade

The Senegal's newly elected president has named Abdoul Mbaye, a former banker without any affiliation to political parties, as his first prime minister, state television said on Tuesday.



Mbaye, who had studied in Senegal and France's top business schools and has previously worked at West Africa's BCEAO central bank, he was as well been credited with turning around several ailing private banks in the West African state.



His nomination came just one day after President Macky Sall was sworn in as Senegal's new leader, having defeated incumbent Abdoulaye Wade, in a tense election in the history of that country.
