Bible Verse of the Day
7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.
I must admit I am horrible at this… let me clarify, I am horrible at this with the people who are closest to me in my life.
Oh I can be kind and gracious to those I do not know or that I do not know well, but unfortunately it seems the closer I let you become in my life the less I seem to be able to tame my tongue and there are greater chances I will hurt you with something I say.
I get the fact that we are all wounded and that there are times we react to one another from a wounded place, but it does not justify words that are said by us or to us.
As I think back at the painful areas in my life the deepest seem to be around what was said or not said to me.
As I think about the painfulness I have caused others it is from these same sources.
James has it right no human can tame the tongue, I know I have tried.
But there is good news, God can…
I pray for each of you and for myself that the Holy Spirit will counsel us (which He is) and that we will accept this teaching and training, for once something is said it can never be taken back again. May God shower upon us His clarity, discernment and discretion as we travel down this road through life. May it be God’s loving voice that follows through us and not the words of the enemy or the words of the hurt, fear, doubt we carry inside.
Have a blessed day,
