An ATR-72 twin engine turboprop aircraft with 39 passengers and 4 crew members crashed shortly after takeoff - 32 deaths have been reported. None of them appear to be foreigners.

The survivors have been airlifted to nearby hospitals.

The aircraft of French-Italian make is owned by UTair and was on a journey from Tyumen to the oil town of Surgut.

The aircraft crashed into a snowy field just outside the town of Tyumen in Siberia.

The cause of the crash is not known

Air crashes is not new to Russia and, while one section blames it on an aging fleet, others feel it is due to lack of trained staff apart from not-too-rigid government control and crumbling airports.
