This comes on the fourth anniversary of the arrests of Mohammed Hossain and Yassin Aref who were detained, prosecuted and jailed in an FBI sting involving a fictional missle. New York's WNBC Channel 4 reported a counter-terrorism investigation on Long Island (isn't that the place from which the big airliner is rumoured to have been shot down by missle in the mid-1990s?)... now, digg this:
- A "drone" missle designed to carry 600 pounds of explosives WAS BEING TESTED on an airstrip!
- The man behind the project is an Egyptian national who came to be in the USA on a Sudanese passport.
- Police and the FBI bought one fellow's story that he was an inventor hoping to sell his drone to the US military. (Although his "project" was never reported to any federal agency).
- WNBC says the engineer who designed the missle is not being identified "because he was not charged." ?!?
- So we have a missle, built and ready for testing, the engineer who designed it, a "small group of men" who were conducting the "flight test"and the foreign national backing the project. And nobody in custody. "Officials said if it had gone into the air WITHOUT Federal Aviation Administration approval, it COULD HAVE been considered a crime."
