A group of young men loved to kill white-tailed deer just for thrills – they would blind the animals in the backroads of Richland County by focusing the headlights of their pickup trucks on the eyes of the animals.
Then, they would shoot the deer and leave the carcass to rot.
The team included 20-year old Nathan Blaha of Hillsboro and his accomplices were 17-year-old Steven Blaha and 18-year-old Brogan Gillingham.
These shocking killings occurred during December last and all of them face charges of illegally killing deer without any proper license.
The crime was discovered when the locals reported hearing gun shots at night and finding dead animals lying around when they woke up next morning.
Licensed deer hunting is allowed during the 9-day Thanksgiving period but there are certain guidelines that must be followed – one of these is no hunting after the sun goes down.
