A 20-year-old woman carrying gifts to a 3-year-old's birthday party lethally nosed dive from a 14th-floor balcony in The Bronx after police thought she was possibly being pushed or trying to flee her killers.
On the 750 E. 179th St. in Tremont, the body of Sienna Edwards was found around 10 p.m. Thursday.
Sheryl Thomas who lives on the third floor of the building said she heard a loud boom and ran to the terrace and saw a woman laying down there. It was so loud that she thought someone tossed a TV out and it landed on a hood of a car.
Edwards is said to be a “friend” of the child’s father, who was not allowed to go upstairs because the little girl’s mother had an order of protection against the man. After entering the building, Edwards urgently called 911 about 9:30 p.m., but the dispatcher only heard voices in the background yelling repeatedly, “You’re not leaving here alive tonight!” Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.
Cops were sent to a site a block away, where the cell reception supposed to be originating, but they found nothing. The child’s mother called 911 at around 10 p.m. and reported that Edwards committed suicide by leaping over a 5-foot high balcony.
The police questioned the child’s mother who lives in the apartment, but no arrests have been made. There were two other women who were there during the incident.
The child’s father went wild, neighbors said after his lady friend dropped to the concrete roadway of the building’s backyard. On the pavement she had without shoes and her pants pockets yanked out, they said.
“He was out there going bananas, going nuts!” Drew Overton, 44, said of the man. “The poor guy! He was kicking and screaming.”
