And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

-- Gen. 28:22 (KJV)

The final part of Jacob's vow is that he will pay a tenth or a tithe out of all that God gives to Him. Notice the arrangement. Jacob gave a tithe, God gave Him everything.

That's the case in our lives. Follow the logic. If you tithe, then God will give you everything. Now, let's look at the negation of the previous sentence from a logical perspective. If you don't tithe, then God will not be obligated to give you anything. However, God is so merciful that He continues to give up to a certain breaking point that is different for every person.

Numerical Analysis: The numerical pattern for this verse is 1, 4, 5, 2, 8. (1) Follow God in order to be strong as a rock. (4) To stay in God's Word, establish landmarks in your spiritual walk with Him. (5) To follow after God's presence, reside in His house. (2) To be delivered, tithe. (8) To have a new beginning in God, tithe.
