The thieves in Ipswich must be of a unique brand that specializes in taking away the most unusual objects. Otherwise why should one decide to steal a front lawn?

54-year old Steve Woolnough woke up on the morning of 19th March 2012 to discover that someone had stolen his front lawn in the night!!

It was a 9-square meter artificial grass astro turf and quite heavy and bulky. Obviously, it could not have been the work of one or two persons – there must have been more and they must have come with a vehicle to take away the loot. Also, it would have been a time consuming affair.

We have heard of thefts of easy-to-carry and easy-to-dispose-off goods like jewelry, clothes, footwear etcetera and also of goods that are exclusively for the rich and the famous like antiques or oil paintings.

But – a front lawn is a totally new entry in the category of items which needs to be properly guarded to avoid it being stolen.

The police of Suffolk have descended on the scene.
