Bible Verse of the Day

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.

Galatians 5:22-23

Over the last few days we have been looking at the fruit of the Spirit; yesterday we dug into self-control. Today we will look deeper into a few more.

Love

The Greek word for love used here is agape pronounced ag-ah’-pay which means:

brotherly love

affection

good will

benevolence

This is the love in which we give and bestow on others out our good heart (new heart)

Joy

The Greek word used here for joy is Chara pronounced khar-ah’ and means:

Gladness

The cause or occasion for joy

Persons who are one’s joy

Peace

The Greek word for peace used here is Eirene pronounced 1-ray’-nay which means:

Tranquility

Exemption from rage and the havoc of war

Peace between individuals

The Messiah’s peace

The way that leads to peace (salvation)

Fearing nothing from God

Being content with our earthly lot

I challenge each of us today to ask God to open our eyes (and Hearts)to love, joy and peace.

My prayer for each of us today is the Spirit will rise up in us brotherly love for one another, occasions and a feelings of joy, and the peace that knows that God’s heart is good towards us, no matter our earthly circumstances and that we will live in harmony with those He brings in our lives.
