Skooter reporting 03/27/12

Well, there are so many strange occurrences nowadays like a crazy sea monster washed ashore!

The locals were shock when they saw it and were scared. A frighteningly large and odd-looking body of some sort of aquatic creature washed up on the coastal state’s Folly Beach, South Carolina. Unknowing what the dead thing could be, the people who found it claimed that it was some sort of unknown sea monster. This presumption was quickly dismissed by a South Carolina aquarium vet, identifying the weird fish as a very huge sturgeon.

The vet explained to the locals that various species of sturgeon are native to North America, particularly the Atlantic sturgeon being the common type found in the South Carolina area.

All the species are known to grow to enormous sizes. Like the Atlantic Sturgeon for example it can grow to around 10 feet long and 300 pounds, but can grow more as big as 15 feet long and 800 pounds.

Apparently, Folly Beach’s discovery is on the bigger side. The fish’s tearful eyes, face like fishhook or arrowhead and bony, scale-like plates all add to the sturgeon’s alien look. This is maybe the first time and last for many residents of the area to see a fish of this type. For 100 million years the species which has been swimming the Atlantic seas is in danger. For your information, sturgeon populations are being hit hard by commercial fishing, with several species are already in the endangered list.

At this moment, at least, the local residents are glad to learn that they are just watching an enormous fish and not Godzilla.
