Deputy Director, Malir Development Authority (MDA) stabbed to death

An imprisoned Deputy Director, Malir Development Authority (MDA) was stabbed to death by his inmate at Central Jail, Karachi on early Monday.

According to police sources, the incident took place at CJK on early Monday where two prisoners namely Bisharat Hussain and Mohammad Ahmed engaged in a scuffle that left former killed.

They said the jail administration suspended three officials including assistant superintendent of the Central Jail, Karachi over their negligence that caused to draft the said incident. They said the jail administration has also initiated inquiry against the suspended officials. The body of Bisharat was moved to Civil Hospital Karachi for postmortem. Needless to mention, the deceased person was arrested by Anti Corruption department over the charge of committing financial fraud in MDA and he was in prison since September 2011.

According to police officials, the murderer Mohammad Ahmed was mentally ill and at the time of incident, his condition was not well and added that the accused person stabbed Bisharat to death with the help of spoon that was provided by his family members during last visit. Later, Inspector General of Jail Ghulam Qadir Thebo has suspended assistant superintendent Zulfiqar Pirzada and two personnel Abbas and Irfan for their negligence and initiated inquiry against them. Meanwhile, the New Town police have registered a case 130/12 against Ahmed on behalf of Jail Superintendent Khalid Sheikh and shifted him to another cell. However, the family of deceased while protesting over his death alleged the police to have involved in his murder, saying that the victim Bisharat was firstly tortured and then murder.
