Ron Paul, Trayvon Martin and Bloody R3volution?

Ron Paul Presidential Campaign Speech (4/4) (1988)

Three Republican Primary hopefuls, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich have all publicly denounced the sensless murder of Trayvon Martin, calling it a tragedy and asking for further investigation. Fellow contendor Ron Paul, on the other hand, has remained deafeningly silent. A post on his supporter site, the Daily Paul, suggests many of his supporters side with the killer. Given the good Doctor's massive support by racist groups one might assume he doesn't want to alienate this base. After all, he recently received substantial donations from members of the Neo Nazi American Third Party. However his supporters insist he is not racist and claim he is "loved by minoritys." Meanwhile some of his followers openly call for the lynching of a Missouri GOP official who just by coincidence is black and even advocate the "r3volution" become "bloody". In Georgia Ron Paul supporters have gone so far as to make death threats against GOP officials who they feel have "conspired against" their hero.

In this writers opinion Ron Paul needs to act and act fast. First, he needs to issue an email to his supporters, along with a press release, condemning the actions of the individuals who are involved in making such threats.

Second, he needs to return the money he received from avowed racists. His supporters claim doing so would be used against him in some way and they may have a point. So I suggest he donate the money to Trayvon Martin's family to help offset funeral costs. It would be a powerfull statement on his part by saying loud and clear that he does not want Neo-Nazi support.
