IDF Soldier Kidnap Policy

Last year, one imprisoned Israeli soldier was exchanged for over a thousand Palestinian prisoners held for terrorism. To prevent these known terrorists to roam the streets freely again, the nation of Israel has concocted a controversial policy.

Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have now told their soldiers that they should kill their own if they see one of them being kidnapped by opposing forces. Also, the soldiers are told to detonate one of their grenades and kill everyone around them, including their own selves, in order to prevent from being kidnapped. In the IDF's eyes, a dead soldier is better than a kidnapped soldier.

It will be interesting to see what this protocol will do to the morale of the soldiers. That extra pressure put upon them to not be kidnapped could cause some of them to snap.

This policy states that IDF soldiers must shoot their own in order to prevent them from being kidnapped by enemy forces.

Are not they putting extra pressure on their soldier.

One Israeli soldier is equivalent to a hundred Palestinians, that's how precious life is for israelis. So I believe the policy could be all right. The Israeli should be careful then not to be kidnapped for they are considered a precious commodity than a hundred souls of Palestinians.

First, Israel forces everyone to serve in their army. Then, they tell them that it's better that they die than remain alive if they are kidnapped. The government is telling them that they don't care about their lives.

The morale question is an important issue. I will watch for future reports.
