
<p>MANILA, Philippines – Anti-narcotics agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested recently a senior citizen during a search warrant operation in Davao City, PDEA said Saturday
<p>Also arrested was his 54-year-old companion.
<p>PDEA Director General Undersecretary Jose S. Gutierrez, Jr. identified the suspects as Rey S. Serenas, alias “Amid”, 60 years old, jobless and resident of Francisco Street, Juna subdivision, Matina, Davao City; and Mario C. Guino-o, 54 years old, self-employed and resident of Anda Street, Davao City.
<p>Gutierrez said Serenas has been under PDEA’s surveillance for quite some time, and was the subject of the search warrant operation.
<p>The two were apprehended by joint elements of PDEA Regional Office 11 (PDEA RO11) under Regional Director Emerson R. Rosales and Davao City Police, following a raid in Serenas’ house on Thursday, March 22, 2012, shortly before noon.
<p>Nine plastic sachets of shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia and three units of mobile phone were seized during the search inside the suspects’ residence.
<p>The same day, a drug-pushing couple was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by operatives of PDEA Regional Office 4B (PDEA RO 4B) led by Regional Director Lyndon Aspacio.
<p>Gutierrez said that the entrapment operation took place along Barangay Buenavista, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro.
<p>The suspects, identified as Salvador F. Reyes, a 39-year-old driver of the National Food Authority (NFA) Central Office in Quezon City; and live-in partner, Marites Taguires, 27, are residents of Krus na Ligas, Quezon City.
<p>The couple conspired to sell one plastic sachet of shabu to a PDEA agent who posed as buyer. Further search on the suspects yielded another plastic sachet of shabu.
<p>Also recovered during the operation was a cellular phone which the partners used in drug transactions. Reports revealed that the live-in partners were in town just to deliver and sell the confiscated illegal drugs.
<p>Serenas and Guino-o are currently detained at Davao City Police Office, while Reyes and Taguires are under the custody of PDEA Occidental Mindoro Provincial Office.
<p>The suspects now face charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
