Acclaimed director Ivan Heng is bringing a new version of William Shakespeare's classic play Romeo and Juliet to Singapore this April.

(TRAVPR.COM) UK - March 23rd, 2012 - Singapore's Drama Centre Theatre on Victoria Street will play host to an all-new version of the timeless Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet from April 12th to 28th 2012.

The production is being mounted by contemporary drama company W!LD RICE and is directed by the group's founder Ivan Heng, an internationally acclaimed and award-winning theatre practitioner.

Heng will bring his creative talents to bear on a fresh, modern version of an iconic story that remains just as powerful today as it was when originally written in the 16th century.

Shakespeare's tragic tale of star-crossed lovers from warring families will be brought to life by some of Singapore's leading theatre actors in a production that aims to capture "the exhilaration, intimacy and fragility of young love in a hostile world".

Preview shows will be held from April 12th to 14th before commencing a regular run of evening performances from Tuesday to Saturday at 20:00 local time, with 15:00 matinees also available on Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets range in price from S$39 to S$69 (£19.50 to £34.50).
