The list of Filipinos who are facing death sentence for smuggling illegal drugs in China has been added. This is when the China court handed down to the Filipino caught smuggling of illegal drugs into the country.
Department of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson and Assistant Secretary Raul Hernandez said those Filipinos is a male and a female sentenced to death by the Hangzhou People’s Intermediate Court. The names of the Filipinos were not mentioned yet by the agency.
It was January 25, 2011 when the two were caught carrying about 12 kilos of heroine at the Hangzhou International Airport in Zhejiang. They got entered China from Dubai via Hongkong. The male defendant was given a two-year reprieve while the female was not. The families of the two Filipinos have written appeal letters which will be sent to China government.
