Bolton footballer Fabrice Muamba's ongoing recovery from a cardiac arrest was labelled "miraculous" .
"If Fabrice Muamba had not received life-saving CPR after his cardiac arrest during a match on Saturday, he might not be here today",said Muamba's consultant cardiologist, Dr Sam Mohiddin. "His heart stopped beating for 78 minutes and “in effect, he was dead in that time.”
Medics tried to revive Muamba for 48 minutes on Saturday before he arrived at the hospital, Bolton team doctor Jonathan Tobin said. It then took another 30 minutes, after 15 shocks from a defibrillator, before the player’s heart started beating again.
Fabrice Muamba collapsed from a heart attack during the FA Cup Sixth Round match between Tottenham Hotspur and Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
