Thai Princess Maha Chakkri Sirinthon visit taxila Museum

Royal Thai Princess Maha Chakkri Sirinthon on Tuesday 20 March offered religious rituals at the ancient Buddhist site of Julian near taxila.

Besides, the princess visited three different Buddhist sites including Sirkap, Julian, Dharmarajika Stupa and Taxila Museum.

She was accompanied by Begum Shahnaz Wazir Ali, Special Assistant to Prime Minister, and other members of the delegation. She also visited Dharmarajika Stupa and Sirkap.

Talking to media on this occasion, she lauded the Pakistan government for preserving sites related to Buddhism and maintaining Taxila as one of the prominent places for Buddhists.She said that the Gandhara civilization could attract tourists from Bhutan and other Buddhist regions.

She said that Pakistan and Thailand enjoyed friendly relations and visit of the delegation would further strengthen it.

She called for frequent visits of dignitaries and people to people contacts between the two countries in this regard.

She said the Pakistani government was also taking pragmatic steps for preserving Buddhist heritage in the country.

It is an exciting experience to tour Taxila,` said delegation members. They said Taxila was like a book on the Buddha.

Earlier, they were received by officials of department of archaeology and museum.
