Kenya kidnapping curtails UN aid work

Somali Pirates released today Judith Tebbutt who was kidnapped from a Kenya resort last year and kept for the last six months in a secret location in central Somalia. The husband of Judith Tebbutt was killed in Sept. last year during the kidnap operation in Kenyan village of Kiwayu by six gangs during the kidnap operation.

An unknown sum of ransom was paid to the pirates after her son negotiated with the pirates through middlemen for her release. Mrs Tebbutt was flown to Nairobi on Wednesday after her release.

Judith Tebbutt, 56, is from Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire , England . She was seized on 11 September last year from Kiwayu Safari Village, a luxury resort on a deserted stretch of Kenyan coastline, comprised of thatched cottages on the beach. Her husband was 58 years old when he was shot dead by a gang of six men during kidnap operation.
