With a three-time World Player of the Year awards under his belt, the Argentina star accumulated a total earning of€33 million ($52 million) in wages, bonuses as well as endorsement deals last 2011.
Messi, 24, is considered by many as the best football player in the world, having had scored a total of 51 goals for the Catalan Giants in all competitions.
Next on the list is, former Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar collecting $50 million mostly from his endorsements.
In addition, Beckham had recently signed a new contract with the Galaxy and unveiled a clothing line with Swedish retailer H & M earlier this year, CNN reported.
Real Madrid forward’s Cristiano Ronaldo with total earnings of $46 million had also made it to the top 3.
Ronaldo, the Portugal star is Messi’s on-field rival.
Following on the list is Samuel Eto'o of Cameroon while Manchester United and England strikerwas on fifth.
