Racism vs. Africans in Israel (2/4)

Israel, the recipient of the largest U.S. aid is reported to have an official policy of Racism. Would the American voters and presidential candidates pay any attention?

A recent report by the "Arab-Jewish" Coalition against Racism in Israel reported 155 racist incidents by state institutions including discrimination against Jews of Ethiopian, Middle Eastern and North African origins in addition to Palestinians who are citizens of Israel. The report found out that such acts of racism have been also conducted by businesses, and private and public organizations against the same minorities groups.

The report which is covering the year 2011 listed 60 complaints of discrimination in housing, night clubs and entertainment facilities, in addition to attacks on houses of worship including the burning of 13 mosques and the demolition of tens of houses, all belong to Palestinian citizens. Moreover, there have been incidents of segregation of Jewish Ethiopian students and the expulsion of Middle Eastern and North African Jews.

The report also noted racism acts by the Knesset (the Israeli parliament) which approved 35 bills that restrict the freedom of Palestinian citizens of Israel and expatriate workers.

It has been also reported that such acts have been in compliance with some rabbi religious edicts that incited hatred and violence.
