Walt Disney loses $200-million on sci-fi movie ‘John Carter’

It is impossible to understand the human mind – and, even the experts of the Walt Disney group are flummoxed. They are in the red for nearly $200-million.

Otherwise, why should a sci-fi movie ‘John Carter’ bomb at the box office? It cost $150-million to make and $100-million for its marketing. It was about John Carter, a military captain, who is transported to Mars.

The story was written by Edgar Rice Burroughs – the man who gave us the character of Tarzan.

Given such a combination, the movie should been an instant hit as one usually observes in sci-fi movies like ‘ET’.

But this one turned out to be an exception, an experiment that went terribly wrong.
