Jacob R Clark, a 3rd grader of Cape Cod Station Avenue Elementary School was happy to get summoned for jury duty in Orleans District Court on April 18. It meant he would get a day off from school. That, to him, was a great deal.
But – he did not know what jury duty was all about.
So, he asked his grandmother to explain and, when she explained that he would have to sit in judgment of criminals like murderers, 9-year old Jacob was aghast.
Suddenly, he realized that going to school would be a better option rather than jury duty.
The boy is basically shy and gets nervous while talking with adults, even on the phone.
It seems there was an error in the documents held by the authorities based on which Jacob had been summoned. His date of birth as recorded in the documents of the state agency was 1982 instead of 2002!!!
