KONY 2012 INVISIBLE CHILDREN INTERVIEW Jason Russell, Ben Keesey Co-Founder & CEO PART 1

Jason Russell has been admitted in the hospital after he exhibited some bizarre behavior, and now his wife is explaining the reason behind it to the world

Before 'Kony 2012' was released, no one even knew about who Jason Russell was, but now, the director/actor of the short film has gotten international recognition. 'Kony 2012' is a short internet film which has gone viral and calls for the arrest of Ugandan rebel leader Joseph Kony. Within a matter of few days, 'Kony 2012' got millions of views and it spread like wildfire. Many people appreciated the short film, but there were also those who criticised it for oversimplifying a matter which is too complex. There were a myriad of criticisms against the movie and it seems that Jason Russell took them a little personally.

A few days back, Jason Russell was seen running naked on the streets in California, and several people reported that he was also masturbating. "The San Diego Police Department received several calls that he was acting bizarrely, running nto traffic, interfering with traffic, yelling," an official said.

This strange behavior was recently explained by his wife, Danica Russell, who said that 'Kony 2012' was really close to Jason Russell, and the negative criticism really got to his head. She said that Russell 'did some irrational things brought on by extreme exhaustion and dehydration'. Danica Russell, in a family statement obtained by NBC News, suggested sudden attention and criticism of the film may have led to her husband's behavior.

"We thought a few thousand people would see the film, but in less than a week, millions of people around the world saw it," Danica Russell said. "While that attention was great for raising awareness about Joseph Kony, it also brought a lot of attention to Jason -- and, because of how personal the film is, many of the attacks against it were also very personal, and Jason took them very hard.

She denied her husband had substance abuse or drinking problems.

"On our end the focus remains only on his health, and protecting our family. We'll take care of Jason, you take care of the work. The message of the film remains the same: stop at nothing," she added.

Jason Russell is still admitted in a medical facility and it is being hoped that he will emerge from it fully recovered. Meanwhile the family has asked for privacy so that they can deal with the situation.
