Iran parliament speaker calls Israel 'barking dog' that will not attack Iran

Iran's parliamentary speaker, Ali Larijani, has called Israel a "barking dog" that won't attack the Islamic republic over its nuclear program.

"Israel won't make the mistake of attacking Iran because it's not prepared to play with its own destiny," said Larijani.

Larijani is Iran's former top nuclear negotiator and intensely loyal to the country's cleric-led regime.

Meanwhile, speaking to the Iran's news agency, Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Iran will not abandon its nuclear achievements in the upcoming negotiations with the powers of the 5 +1 group.

Parliament will never allow the government to take a step backward in the country's nuclear policy, "said Allaeddine Boroujerdi, head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Iranian Parliament.
