Happiness and a life without tensions or shall we say “stress” are the secrets of a former Mr. Universe longevity who has just recently turned 100 Sunday. In addition to that, a simple diet of milk, fruits and vegetables coupled with rice, lentils and fish have kept him on his toes. And of course, he neither smoke nor touched alcohol.
Although only 4 feet and 11 inches (150 centimeters) tall, Manohar Aich triumphed over many trials in life, including battling poverty and a time in prison, to accomplish body building glory.
In the eastern city of Kolkata, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren bunched up Sunday to celebrate his birthday the day before.
In 1952, Aich took the year’s Mr. Universe body building title. Hindu priests recited prayers and a feast was held to honor him.
Aich was born in the small town of Comilla in Bengal.
