March 18, 2012: No, you read it right. Men get a pizza, free, if they have a vasectomy.
While the news, media and America’s political and religious leaders seem to be going crazy over the question of female contraception a clinic in Cape Cod, Massachusetts is going in a unique direction. The Urology Associates of Cape Cod is offering a free pizza to vasectomy patients during March Madness.
The commercial, promoting the deal, asks, "Hey guys! Want to watch the college basketball tournament guilt-free? You know you've been thinking about a vasectomy, anyway. Now's the time to get it done."
Dr. Evangelos Geraniotis, a practicing urologist, told the Cape Cod Times, "It's one of the easiest and less-stressful forms of birth control."
Evan Cohen, an employee of the clinic, told the Times that getting a vasectomy during the NCAA basketball tournament is the perfect time because it normally takes a day or two to recover after the operation, so it gives patients an excuse to lounge on the couch and watch some basketball.
Briefly, a vasectomy is a surgical procedure for men that make them sterile, hence preventing pregnancy. It is performed by cutting the vas deferens tube in each testicle. A "no-scalpel vasectomy" relies on small puncture holes that do not require stitches. According the attached video, the procedure is reversible.
Now, a free pizza and some basketball sounds like a crazy idea. But, according to the clinic, so far the number of patients has gone up from the numbers which normally come in for the procedure. So if you are thinking of a vasectomy, head on over to Cape Cod. The free pizza deal ends March 31.
