(Check It Out! Pictures!) CAIRO, Egypt- The religious leader of some 8 million people of Egypt, head of the Coptic Orthodox Church, Pope Shenouda III has died of natural causes on Saturday, March 17, 2012.
The 88-year-old much-loved leader and popular patriarch’s dead body was displayed as he sat on his thrown for the last time inside the Abassiya Cathedra in Cairo. Thousands of mourners arrived and gathered to pay their last respect to their great leader.
Pope Shenouda III was a fighter for Coptic rights in his early years and also known for being a religious thinker and a charismatic leader although they are considered as minorities in a majority Muslim population of Egypt of more than 80 million people.
