Actor-activist George Clooney and his father Nick were arrested at a protest outside the Sudanese Embassy in Washington.
Sudan’s president, Omar al-Bashir was accused by the protesters of inciting a humanitarian crisis and impeding food and aid from entering the Nuba Mountains in the county's border region with South Sudan.
Clooney, his father and others, including Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Moran of Virginia and NAACP President Ben Jealous, were taken into custody after being told three times not to cross a police line outside the embassy. They were fastened and put into a U.S. Secret Service van.
Earlier, the actor-activist said that he expect to attract more attention to the issue and if in the next three to four months, action is ignored there will be a real humanitarian tragedy.
