Well-known actor who is a political activist was arrested yesterday in a demonstration in Washington DC to speak up for the freedom and human rights for people of Sudan.
The Guardian, rally, with the participation of Clooney's father, Congressman Jim Moran of Virginia, has blocked the entrance to the Embassy of Sudan. Clooney and others have even turned down three requests from the police disbanded.
The other celebrities also joined the rally, including human rights campaigner Martin Luther King III and actor Dick Gregory.
Clooney and several others were allowed bail late on Friday. "You can not know a thing until you actually do it. We hope this action might help somewhat," Clooney told reporters after being released, do not forget to say more that this is the first time he was arrested and "hope that will be the last time."
Actor arrived in Washington after returning from a trip to Sudan two days ago. On Wednesday, he testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on the issue of violence in the Nuba Mountains of South Kordofan, a state of Sudan, bordering the South border of Sudan, a newly independent country. This area is in regular unrest by the dispute between Sudan and South Sudan.Clooney told the MPs that: "We have found that children with a body full of shrapnel, even a 9-year-old boy has lost both hands."
Clooney has accused Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, government officials, Ahmad Harun and Defense Minister Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein because of the instability in the area.
Also on Wednesday, Clooney met with President Barack Obama expressed concern to the people of Sudan. In an interview with the press, Clooney said he was leaving a meeting with a very optimistic mood that the President will seek a solution to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
Clooney said that when the rainy season, a large number of people in Sudan will face starvation. USAID estimates that about 250,000 people in South Kordofan will face serious condition at the end of April if the issue of violence and hunger still unresolved.
