Phantom of the Opera

He searches through a forest for a kiss

Which long ago was taken by a mist

He wonders how it ever came to this

How many silent tears he could have missed

He searches through the trees which bore his shame

Whose branches aren’t as proud as days before

Their flowers seem all eaten by some flame

A dream that doesn’t matter anymore

He searches through the thorns of his new day

That tear sweet memories across his heart

Who was that fool who let them slip away

Where were the eyes which didn’t see it start

And there amid his darkness is a light

He wonders if it’s come to set him free

A kiss to bring some meaning to his night

A kiss to bring another chance to me
