BBC and Discovery Channel Traveled with Quark to Antarctica for Polar Exploration

(TRAVPR.COM) USA - March 15th, 2012 - [Waterbury, VT] – 15 March 2012 – This weekend, Quark Expeditions, the leader in polar travel, will be featured in North American premiere of the Discovery Channel and BBC co-production of "Frozen Planet." The seven-part documentary series premieres March 18, 2012, at 8 p.m. ET/PT and highlights the Earth’s Polar Regions, including amazing flora and fauna indigenous to these incredibly remote and desolate parts of the world. BBC and Discovery Channel production crews traveled with Quark to capture the stunning scenery featured in the series.

“After more than two decades, Quark Expeditions continues to be the only travel company to exclusively offer expeditions to the Polar Regions,” said Hans Lagerweij, president, Quark Expeditions. “As the leader in polar travel adventures, Quark was able to provide unparalleled access to these regions for BBC and Discovery Channel crews, as well as make our expert expedition staff available for their shoots.”

Two versions of this documentary are available for North Americans to watch. Award-winning actor Alec Baldwin narrates the Discovery Channel version, while Sir David Attenborough’s narration can be heard on Discovery World HD. Both versions are available in high-definition for viewers to marvel at some of the most beautifully picturesque scenery in the world, from the comforts of home.

For viewers who want to experience Antarctica first hand, Quark Expeditions is currently offering 25% off all upcoming departures on Ocean Diamond, the company’s newest ship. Bookings must be made by April 30, 2012.
