A small zoo in Saxony was planning to present the 17-day-old bunny to the world at a press conference, according to the Associated Press.
Zoo director Uwe Dempewolf told Spiegel magazine Til did not suffer: "It was a direct hit."
The cameraman was distraught after the tragic mishap, zoo director Uwe Dempewolf said.
Til gained national attention because he had no ears, due to a rare genetic defect., while its five twins were all born without abnormality.
The bunny was named after tough German actor Til Schweiger, best known for playing psychopathic Nazi hunter Hugo Stiglitz in the Quentin Tarantino film Inglourious Basterds.
