Mississippi State basketball coach Rick Stansbury retires after 14 seasons

News sources Yahoo sports, Rivals.com and Associated Press. Starkville Mississippi. Mississippi State University men's basketball coach Rick Stansbury 52, announced his retirement after spending over 14 years at the school.

Stansbury said the reason for his retirement was after he had a long time making his decision and decided now is the time to step away from coaching at this time and pursue another line of work.

Stansbury's record at the school was 293 wins and 166 losses, leading the Bulldogs to 11 post season tournament appearances. The last time the Bulldogs made an appearance in the NCAA men's basketball tournament was in 2009.

Stansbury is in ninth place in wins in the Southeastern Conference. The Bulldogs last season collapse in which they lost the last seven of their last nine games led to the team playing in the National Invitational Tournament

The Bulldogs lost in the first round tournament game to the University of Massachusetts on Tuesday night.
